Tymeter repairs...

This is my old Tymeter shack clock. I've had this at least 40 years, maybe longer. It had always kept time well (and has a vintage look), but the motor burned out a few months ago. While poking around in my junkyard, I realized I had an old junker Galaxy station console with the same exact clock! I salvaged the clock, tested it, and transplanted it into my Tymeter bakelite housing. While I was at it, I touched up a few of the numbers with a Sharpie, and rubbed out the housing with some Flitz polishing compound. Not too shabby, and she's back in the shack, keeping time :-)

Raymarine Sailboat Smart Controller

This is a Smart Controller by RayMarine I repaired for a boating friend. This is linked to his sailboat, and allows him to control many functions of the boat, while allowing him to move about the boat freely. This display failed, and was unobtainium. He found a junker with a good display, so I removed and transplanted it into his unit. Here's a few pics..

Palomar P-410X Recieve Preamp

This is a Palomar Engineers P-410X 160m thru 6m receive preamp I repaired and modified for a friend. Originally, it had a coaxial pigtail hanging out for the connection to the radio. I removed that, installed a matching SO-239 connector, and labeled it. The main pc board literally floats in the cabinet, supported by connections to the front panel controls. It was inoperable due to breaks in the board, a bad FET, and connection issues with the front panel. Those items were repaired and it was good to go! Here's a few pics...

HBC RadioMatic Industrial RC System Repair

A HBC Radiomatic 900 mhz full duplex remote control system for a concrete pumping truck, repaired and ready to rock! Video at:

Another Omnex Industrial RC System Repair

This is another Omnex Industrial Radio Control system, used on a concrete pumping truck. It controls everything... the articulated boom, concrete rate, engine speed, etc. This one took an unscheduled bath in concrete. The operator didn't realize that the very acidic concrete / water slurry got inside. Unfortunately, this damaged connectors, a few components, and ate several pcb traces right off the board. I replaced a few components, patched the board, and got it back online.

Heathkit HW-101 Restoration...

This is a Heathkit HW-101 I picked up at an estate sale. I washed the internals, serviced all tube sockets, checked / replaced tubes, made repairs to an intermittent preselector (was never soldered to the board!!), changed a few out of spec resistors, installed new feet, cleaned and lubricated the VFO, and aligned it. Pretty darn good looking 50 year old radio!
