Henry Tempo One, #2

This is the 2nd Tempo One I got from my friend, Frank. These are great radios from around 1968-ish.

I started this restoration by tackling the cosmetic issues. Stripping and repainting the cabinets, soaking and cleaning all knobs, and replacing the incandescent lamps. What a great looking rig!

I did the typical things... cleaned the pc board, clean the tube pins and tube sockets, checked all tubes and replaced as needed, checked and replaced out of tolerance resistors, replaced electrolytic caps, serviced all controls and switches, and gave it a full alignment. The solid state balanced modulator was in serious trouble, and required a rebuild with new semiconductors.

After restoration, it came online and worked great, and found a place at an operating position in Studio A :-) .

When I Ship A Henry Tempo One

This is a rule of thumb, when I ship any of these heavy rigs, but this video is about the Tempo One I restored...

Tempo One HF Rig

This is a Henry Radio Tempo One that I picked up sometime back from my friend Francis Drake as a long term project. I have to take some of these restorations in small doses. It was fairly clean, but needed some TLC. I stripped and repainted the cases, washed the front panel and knobs, recapped the radio and power supply, changed some out of spec resistors, replaced a couple of tubes and cleaned the sockets, aligned, and she's running. It looks and works pretty good for a 50+ year old radio. Now to make room in Studio A to get it connected and online!
