This is a new Icom SP-23 I got from a friend. This is a beautiful speaker that matches my IC-756 perfectly. After unboxing and connection, I discovered that it was DOA. I opened it up and found the audio I/O board on the rear panel had the audio ports smashed upwards through the board. Once that was repaired, it was still inoperable. Further inspection found soldering issues on the front panel pushbutton module, where some switches were not properly soldered to the board. I corrected this issue, and it now works properly. This was a new unit, straight from the distributor. All's well that ends well :-)
I've been in Amateur Radio since 1974, and still find new and interesting things to do. I like to build, restore, and operate on the air. This blog has been running for many years, so be sure to check out "Jump to Posts on Specific Topics" in the RH column to drill down and find lots of stuff.
