Whilst on the road, I'll update this a bit. This will ultimately be a bandswitched 80-10m GI6B amplifier. This is pt2.. I finally finished refinishing the outer cabinet with a nice wrinkle black surface. The face & inner cabinet will be an Ivory White. Here's a few pics.
I've been in Amateur Radio since 1974, and still find new and interesting things to do. I like to build, restore, and operate on the air. This blog has been running for many years, so be sure to check out "Jump to Posts on Specific Topics" in the RH column to drill down and find lots of stuff. Repurposing a D&A Phantom Cabinet
I got a junker D&A Phantom from a friend. It was pretty hacked up, but not unusual for a 50 year old amplifier. It had 3 nice transformers, relays, air variables, etc...and perfectly usable for a nice amplifier build.
I have chickens... we've been having issues with Hawks. If I'm in the yard, they don't come around. So, I let them free range about and hour most evenings, and I use that time to do outdide stuff like hammering metal, grinding, drilling, etc. Perfect opportunity for this time consuming part of the project. This is the first phase...stripping everything out, saving the good stuff, and prepping the cabinet for a new build. Here's a few pics and video...
