This is a 1964 E.F. Johnson Messenger III and matching piggyback power supply I picked up at a yard sale. This little classic radio was in sad shape.. very dirty, mic cord and mic shot, full of bad caps, some off frequency crystals, etc. I gave it a good cleanup, serviced the switches and controls, recapped the radio and power supply, and gave it an alignment. She now works like new and is relaxing in my collection. Here's a vid and some pics...
I've been in Amateur Radio since 1974, and still find new and interesting things to do. I like to build, restore, and operate on the air. This blog has been running for many years, so be sure to check out "Jump to Posts on Specific Topics" in the RH column to drill down and find lots of stuff. Johnson Messenger III
This is an old Johnson Messenger III I picked up at a swap meet. I had one like this on the air, back around 1977 or so. I plan to restore this one at some point, so I started this page to build on when I get to it.
