Midland 77-882 CB Restoration, and Conv to 10 Meters

CB to 10 meter conversion... This is a fun little radio. I picked up this Midland 77-882 at a yard sale and repaired, restored, and converted it to 10 meters AM. It now covers 28.990 to 29.320.  Here's a few photos and a videos...

Midland 13-882C 23ch CB restoration...

Midland 13-882C. Here's another 23 Channel CB radio I saved from the land fill. :-) It looked, and was, rough. Dirty, non-functional, rusty from a damp basement, erratic controls, oxidized plastic chrome, etc. I love these projects!

VCO wouldn't lock, no matter what. I found the old wax poured on the VCO to be contaminated with moisture, much like the problem Kenwood had with some of their HF rigs in the past. I melted the wax out and all was well!

New lamps, cleaned controls, alignment, sanding, paint, and it turned out pretty good. While I was at it, I rewired the delta tune control to add a few channels to the PLL matrix. Here's a few pics...

Realistic TRC-422A CB

My old Realistic TRC-422A 40 channel AM CB, from around 1982. A little massage and it was back like new.

Johnson Messenger 250

Here's a cool old Johnson Messenger 250, restored. It needed the typical stuff (a few crystals, caps, power cord, alignment, etc). The OEM desk mic is preamplified (a Turner +3 variant). She's not mint, but looks pretty good, considering it's 1973 birthday.

JC Penny Pinto 23ch CB

I restored this old JC Penny Pinto base station. It needed the typical stuff... a couple of crystals for the snyth, caps, lamps, cleaning of controls, and alignment. Pretty cool old CB rig from the 70's.
