Gonset Model 3030

I found an item I've never seen, before... a tuneable SW/HF down converter. This is a Gonset model 3030 "Super-6" from 1952. This unit down-converts to 1430 khz for reception on the AM broadcast radio in the car, and even uses the typical motorola auto antenna connectors. Being tube-type, it requires 80-150 vdc and 6 vdc, so that's something I've got to ponder a bit, but certainly can be done. Coverage is all ham and shortwave bands from 3 to 30 mhz in AM mode. I suspect a bfo could be fashioned with a simple osc around 1430 khz. Here's a few pics, before I start restoration...

The gaudy blue paint was typical of some Gonset equipment.

Peeping in a ventilation slot on the back, I can see tubes and shields. This this will be fun to use to listen to shortwave while in the mobile :-)
