This is a Ten-Tec Model 238 antenna tuner. A friend picked this up at a hamfest, and said it was making strange arcing sounds inside and didn't work.
I opened it up, and found the roller inductor arcing like crazy... the springs that hold the roller to the coil were missing! They were no where in the cabinet...odd. anyway, I replaced the springs, cleaned the coil with 600 grit wet paper and steel wool, and all was well. I replaced the dial lamps, put the cover on, and moved on. Nice tuner!
