Hickok 605A Tube Tester

 Hickok 605A Mutual Conductance tube tester. I got this at an estate sale... It was in sad condition. Case broken open at several joints, covering ripped and hanging off, 50uA meter movement open, burned out contact on that big cluster switch, broken tube, etc. Looked like, and was junk. 

I started by repairing the cabinet, clamping and glueing the joints, reattached the old covering, cleaning, etc. 

The rotary switches weren't too difficult... I used a dremel tool, cut the rivets, and replaced the contact fingers from another junker switch. 

The meter was most challenging. I found a meter with a 50uA movement (but broken pointer). Subbed it in, transplanted the face from the oem meter, and glued the pointer on from the original. Ok...that works... :-)

New tubes and calibration. Wow! This old girl is back online and working beautifully. I love old boatanchors :-)

Midland 77-882 CB Restoration, and Conv to 10 Meters

 CB to 10 meter conversion... This is a fun little radio. I picked up this Midland 77-882 at a yard sale and repaired, restored, and converted it to 10 meters AM. It now covers 28.990 to 29.320.  Here's a few photos and a videos...

Another ICOM IC-756 Display

 Icom IC-756 Analog... A friend in Texas sent this rig to get the display transplant I've been blogging about and updating for several years. Icom stopped supporting it 20 years ago. The display model numbers and mfgs come and go constantly, so I've been busy trying to stay on top of that, to be able to keep doing it. Here's a few before, during, and after photos...

JVC R-X300 Receiver

JVC R-X300 receiver. Near lightning strike killed it. Took out the power supply rectifiers. Almost every 6.3v (lv) electrolytic was shorted. A bit of time, and a handful of caps later, and she's playing like new. Old audio rules!
